A small company with a specific idea about tools.
We’re not building a platform or an ecosystem. We’re filling a box.
The idea
Most software wants to become the place you spend your day. Every new feature pulls toward the center. Everything integrates with everything else. And one morning you notice that leaving would cost more than staying.
A toolbox works the other way around. You open it, take out the one thing you need, use it, put it back. The wrench doesn’t care what else is in there. It has no roadmap to become a screwdriver.
A toolbox isn’t a suite. The tools don’t have to match — they have to work.
That’s the whole idea here. Our products have no obligation to relate to each other. Each one got built because a job needed doing and what already existed was wrong, overpriced, or simply missing. When one’s finished, it goes in the box and we move on to the next.
So each product lives on its own — its own site, its own release schedule, its own reason to exist. You can pick one up without adopting the rest. That’s the point.
How we got here
None of this started as a business plan. It started as a pile of problems that kept coming back.
The first one was easy to state and annoying to live with. AI had gotten genuinely good at reasoning, and stayed almost entirely disconnected from the tools people actually use. You could ask for help with a database and get a beautiful explanation of what to go type somewhere else. That gap — between knowing and doing — was the whole problem.
Closing it turned into SkillForge: a marketplace of Skills that let AI reach real tools, with desktop and mobile apps to manage them. It worked. Then it kept growing, because once you’ve closed the gap for a database, it’s obvious how to close it for a 3D renderer, a PCB layout, or a shoebox of scanned receipts.
At some point a pile of useful things turns into a company, and a company needs a name and somewhere to legally exist. Web Box Apps LLC was formed in New Mexico in September 2026 to be the thing that builds and ships all of it.
The box came after the tools. That order matters, and we intend to keep it.
What we believe
One job, done properly
Feature lists are easy to grow and painful to shrink, so we try not to start. One tool that finishes its job beats five that each get most of the way there. And when an idea doesn’t belong in a product, the right answer is usually a different product — or nothing at all.
You should never pay a toll to read your own data
An uncomfortable amount of modern software charges you for access to information that was already yours — your bank balance, your medical history, your own documents. We think that’s backwards. So where a tool can talk straight to whatever holds your data, it does, with nobody in the middle taking a cut.
Your machine, your keys
Credentials belong to the person they authenticate. If a tool can run on your hardware, against your accounts, that’s how we build it. We’d rather not be a layer between you and your information — half on principle, half because being that layer is a liability nobody sane would want.
Honest pricing, plainly stated
You pay for the tool. That’s the whole transaction. No metered surprises, no per-record fee for looking at your own records, no pricing page that needs a spreadsheet to decode.
We use everything we ship
Every tool in the box started because we needed it. That’s less a principle than a quality-control mechanism: software you rely on daily gets fixed fast, because the person stuck with the bug is the person who can fix it.
Built to be around later
We’re independent and intend to stay that way. No investors waiting on an exit, no pressure to grow past the point where the work is still good. A small company that ships steadily for a very long time is a perfectly good ending.
The particulars
For anyone who needs to check we’re a real company — and for the search engines, which apparently also want to know.
